Lesson 112: How Many, How Much

Here's a short lesson on two phrases that are easily confused. 这是关于两个容易混淆的短语的简短课程。



HOW MANY? 多少？

Use this phrase when you are talking about a quantity of nouns that are countable. 当您谈论数量可数的名词时，请使用此短语。

Examples: How many people attended the Fair? 示例：有多少人参加了博览会？

How many passengers are on this bus? 这辆公共汽车上有多少乘客？

How many times have you visited Queensland? 您访问过昆士兰州几次？

Because people, passengers and visits are countable, these questions have exact answers. 由于人员，乘客和来访都是可数的，因此这些问题都有确切的答案。

For example, 400 or 56 or 3. 例如400或56或3。




Remember from the last lesson that "many" means "a lot of". 请记住，在上一课中，“许多”的意思是“很多”。

But you can also say "not many", if there's only a few. 但是，如果只有几个，您也可以说“不很多”。

You can also say "too many" if there are very many. 如果数量太多，您也可以说“太多”。

Examples: Not many people attended the Fair, and the organisers were disappointed. 例子：参加展览会的人并不多，组织者对此感到失望。

Too many people attended the Fair, and it was crowded. 参加博览会的人太多了，那就是挤 。




HOW MUCH? 多少？

Use this phrase when you are talking about a quantity of nouns that are uncountable. 当您谈论数量不可数的名词时，请使用此短语。

Examples: How much sugar do I need for this cake? 例子：这个蛋糕我需要多少糖？

How much money will we need to go to the footy? 我们需要多少钱去脚？

How much energy is needed to make a car go 10 km? 使一辆汽车行驶10公里需要多少能量？

How much cash have you got in your wallet? 您的钱包里有多少现金？

There are exact answers to these questions, for example "150 grams" for the sugar in the cake. 这些问题都有确切的答案，例如蛋糕中的糖为“ 150克”。

But you can't say "150" or "150 sugars" because sugar is uncountable. 但是您不能说“ 150”或“ 150糖”，因为糖是不可数的。




Remember from the last lesson that "much" means "a lot of". 请记住，在上一课中，“很多”意味着“很多”。

But you can also say "not much", if there's only a small number. 但是，如果数量很少，您也可以说“不多”。

You can also say "too much" if there is a very large quantity. 如果数量很大，您也可以说“太多”。

Examples: I didn't need much sugar to make this cake. 例子：我不需要太多糖来做这块蛋糕。

This cake recipe needs too much sugar! It's not healthy! 这个蛋糕食谱需要太多糖！ 不健康！

I don't have much cash on me. 我没有多少现金。

This car doesn't require much energy to go 10 km. 这辆车走10公里不需要太多的能量。
