A billabong is a pond left behind after a river changes course. Billabong是河道改变后留下的池塘。 The name probably comes from two aboriginal words: "billa" = river and "bong" = dead. 这个名字可能来自两个土著单词：“ billa” =河，“ bong” = 死的。 Because there is no steady flow of water, billabongs are stagnant. 由于没有稳定的水流，所以水密布是停滞的。 They refill during rainy periods.
