Lesson 41: More Verbs - Transport

to ascend (v) 翔: To climb or move up. To walk up stairs, to move up in a lift [US: elevator] or fly up into the sky. 攀爬或向上攀爬 走上楼梯,在电梯上升[US:电梯]或飞向天空。

I/you/we/they ascend, he/she/it ascends.
/am/is/are/ ascending.
/all/ ascended.
/was/were/ ascending.
/shall/will/ ascend.
/shall/will/ be ascending.

to board (v) 上: refer to Lesson 37. 参考第37课。

to deplane (v) 下飞机: To walk off an aircraft. 从飞机上走下来。

I/you/we/they deplane, he/she/it deplanes.
/am/is/are/ deplaning (note spelling, no E).
/all/ deplaned (note spelling, single E before D).
/was/were/ deplaning.
/shall/will/ deplane.
/shall/will/ be deplaning.

to descend (v) 下: To climb or move down. To walk down stairs, to move down in a lift or fly down from the sky. 爬或下降 走下楼梯,在电梯中向下移动或从天空飞下来。
I/you/we/they descend, he/she/it descends.
/am/is/are/ descending.
/all/ descended.
/was/were/ descending.
/shall/will/ descend.
/shall/will/ be descending.

to embark (v) 搭乘: To walk onto a train, ship or aircraft. 走上火车,轮船或飞机。
I/you/we/they embark, he/she/it embarks.
/am/is/are/ embarking.
/all/ embarked.
/was/were/ embarking.
/shall/will/ embark.
/shall/will/ be embarking.

to moor (v) 泊: To secure a boat or ship to a dock, using ropes or wires looped over bollards. 使用系缆绳或绳索将船只或船舶固定在码头上。

I/you/we/they moor, he/she/it moors.
/am/is/are/ mooring.
/all/ moored.
/was/were/ mooring.
/shall/will/ moor.
/shall/will/ be mooring.

to swipe (v) 刷卡: To move a smart-card transport pass, used on Melbourne's buses, trams and trains, past an electronic scanner to pay for your transport. Also called "touch on" and "touch off". Sydney has a similar system. 移动用于墨尔本公共汽车,有轨电车和火车的智能卡运输通行证,通过电子扫描仪支付运输费用。 也称为“触摸”和“触发”。 悉尼有一个类似的系统。

to take off (v) 起飞: For an aircraft to accelerate to a speed where the lifting force generated by its wings exceeds its weight, and it ascends into the air. 对于飞机加速到其机翼产生的提升力超过其重量的速度,它上升到空中。

/am/is/are/ taking off (note spelling, no -E).
/all/ took off (note spelling, irregular verb).
/was/were/ taking off.

to taxi (v) 打车: To drive an aircraft down a taxiway at an airport, going to or from a runway. 驾驶飞机沿机场的滑行道行驶,往返于跑道。

"To take a taxi" = to ride in a taxi. “乘坐出租车”=乘坐出租车。

/am/is/are/ taxiing.
/all/ taxied.
/was/were/ taxiing.
/shall/will/ taxi.
/shall/will/ be taxiing.

to touch down (v) 触地得住: to make the first contact with a runway, at the end of a descent from a flight. 在飞机下降结束时与跑道进行第一次接触。

I/you/we/they touch down, he/she/it touches down (note spelling, added E).
/am/is/are/ touching down.
/all/ touched down.
/was/were/ touching down.
/shall/will/ touch down.
/shall/will/ be touching down.
